Obituary from The Bern Gazette, June 25, 1914

Ellen Williams was born Nov. 30, 1895, departed this life Monday morning June 15, 1914 aged 18 yrs. 5 mo. 15 da. She was given to brighten this world. She was the third daughter of Mr and Mrs Amon Williams. Ellen was a loved and loving daughter and sister and those who knew her best, loved her most. During her illness all the medical aid and all the loving tender care could not keep her with us. Yet after all it may be best, just in the happiest, sunniest hour of all voyage, while eager winds are kissing every sail to dash against the unseen rock and in an instant hear the billow roar above the sunken ship and ever life, no matter if its every hour is rich with love and every moment jeweled with joy will, at its close become a tragedy as sad and deep and dark as con be woven of the warp and wool of mystery and death. We wonder why these things but sometime we'll under stand.

Not now, but in the coming years. It may be in the better land,
We'll read the streaming of the tears,
And there, some time, we'll understand,
We'll catch the broken threads again,
And finish what we here began.
And then, ah then, we'll understand.
God knows the way, He holds the key,
He guides us with unerring hand
Sometime with tearless eyes we'll see,
Yes there, up there, we'll understand.

Funeral services were conducted from the home and interment in the Oneida Cemetery.
