1881 Census: Bury, Compton, Quebec, age 72, married, farmer.

Likely was a parochially-assisted emigrant to the Sherbrooke area under the Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834.

Children James, Charles and Hannah were baptized at Great Ellingham St-James Church. Father's occupation listed as "labourer." Surname spelled "Clarke" in these records. Journey likely occurred in the spring or summer of 1836, because Hannah was baptized November 1, 1835. The Clark genealogy booklet, published by grandson Edward L. Clark, states they came on the Eliza Liddle. However, the passenger list for June 1836 does not list any Clarks. The destination of Port St-Francis, Quebec, makes sense, but sending parishes of Heacham and Kettleston in Norfolk do not. I reviewed the transcribed baptismal records for Heacham and did not find any relevant surnames there.
