Our beloved mother, artist, philosopher and humble writer, Myra Joyce Alexander, age 83, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010, at her home in Nacogdoches, Texas. Mrs. Alexander was born March 16, 1927, in Spur, Texas, the daughter of the late Royal C. Battles and Nora Aldredge Battles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby K. Alexander. Survivors include her three daughters, Lana Schara and her husband, Tom, of Highland Village, Texas; Annie Ferraro and her husband, Steve, of Fort Worth, Texas; Nora Ratcliff and her husband, Bo, of Benton, Louisiana. She is also survived by her sisters, Nell Chaney of Clarksville, Texas, and Bonnie Murray of Granbury, Texas. The was the proud "Mamaw" to eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Public viewing is set for 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, at Cason Monk-Metcalf, 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010, at her home church, First Baptist in Nacogdoches, 411 North Street. Interment will follow in Clairette, Texas. Mrs. Alexander requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Nacogdoches Treatment Center at 119 Hughes Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961 or to the missions ministry at First Baptist, Nacogdoches.
