Mrs. Josephine Roberts dead.

After a few days of illness, Mrs. Josephine Roberts, one of the community's aged and most highly respected ladies, died at her home in east Calico Rock last Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, April 14, 1920 at the age of 69 years.

Mrs. Roberts until only a few weeks ago was considered in comparatively good health, though a sudden change in her physical condition resulted and it was seen that but little hope could be entertained for her recovery and the sad hour of her death came at the time stated above, all surviving children being with her to the end, except Mrs. Ferguson, who is ill at her home in Sharp County.

Deceased was born in Tennessee and moved with her parents to Sharp County, Ark., many years ago. She married to Jacob N. Roberts, also of Tennessee, and this happy union was broken last December by the death of the husband. They moved to Calico Rock from Sharp County some fifteen years ago.

Mrs. Roberts united with the Christian Church early in life and has lived in strict obedience to the teachings of the Bible throughout her life. Her kind and pleasant disposition and Saintly spirit have made her a friend to everyone and the news of her death comes not only as a surprise to many, but a source of deep regret to all. Deceased is survived by four daughters and three sons – Mrs. I. J. Short of Salem, Mrs. G. B. Ferguson of Ballard and Mrs. J. T. Garner and Miss Esta Roberts of Calico Rock; D. D. Roberts and J. W. Roberts of Calico Rock and Dr. J. C. Roberts of Phoenix, Arizona.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church Thursday afternoon, conducted by Elder Owen Stroud. Burial took place in the Calico Rock Cemetery.
