Civil War veteran. The 1860 Census listed Hial as a school teacher. He enlisted on May 13, 1861 at Scio, NY as a Corporal at age 22. On June 24, 1861 he mustered into "C" Co. NY 67th Infantry. He was promoted to Sergeant on September 1, 1861. He was listed as wounded May 31, 1862 at the Battle of Seven Pines in Henrico County, VA. He died of those wounds on June 18, 1862 at Washington, DC.
