Elsie Katherine (Doll) Mahan
Mahan, Elsie Katherine (Doll), 87, passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2010 at her home in Chula Vista, CA. Elsie was born on September 12, 1922 in Ellinwood, Kansas to Barney and Mary Doll. She attended Bushton Rural High School graduating in May, 1940. Elise married Brent Mahan on December 28, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas. Elise and Brent eventually moved from Wichita and settled in San Diego. Elise loved San Diego and seldom traveled. However, she remained connected with her mother, siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews with her frequent letters and phone calls. Elsie was a clerical worker at the San Diego County Courthouse where she eventually retired. Elsie was preceded in death by her late husband Brent Mahan who passed away on April 5, 2000. Family members surviving Elsie include brothers Norbert Doll of San Francisco, CA; Eugene Doll of Cedar Ridge, CA; Leo Doll of Clearwater, Kansas; and sister Maureen Doll Loeffler of Wichita, KS. Elsie was loved, and will be remembered, by many extended family members and friends. A mass will be held in Elsie's memory on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Didacus Church, 4772 Felton St, San Diego, CA 92116. Final internment will be at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband. Elise's siblings, numerous nieces and nephews in Kansas and other parts of California, and friends everywhere, will remember and cherish her for her constant concern, loyalty, and generosity. She will be missed. The family requests no flowers be sent and suggest that, due to Elsie's love for Father Joe Carroll's work, memorial donations be made to Father Joe's Village, 3350 E Street, San Diego, CA 92102. Condolences can be sent to Norbert Doll, 2560 Polk St #6, San Francisco, CA 94109.
