Was Well-Known Farmer in Porter County

Ernest Garriott, 57, well known farmer, residing on RFD 3, Valparaiso, died Monday afternoon in Porter Memorial hospital after a short illness.
The decedent was born in Rensselaer, Ind., Nov. 11, 1894, a son of Emery and Mary Ellen Garriott.
During World War I he served with the 164th Transportation corps. He was a member of the Porter County PMA. On Feb. 28, 1930, he married Orabelle King. She survives together with four daughters, Mrs. Arthur Proffitt and Mrs. Gene Ketterman, Valparaiso: Mrs. Edward Osenga, Hebron, and Miss. Mary Louise Garriott, at home: one son, John Garriott, at home: his mother, Mrs. Mary Ellen Garriott, Rensselaer: one brother, Clarence Garriott, Morgan township, and one sister, Mrs. Ralph Lakin, Rensselaer: two grandchildren, Kathie Lyan Profitt and Richard Osenga. His father, Emery Garriott, and one sister, Mrs. Otto Schreeg, preceded him in death.
The decedent had been a resident of Porter county since 1919, and tenanted the Pool-Arnold farm.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Thursday at the LePell funeral home, 53 Monroe, with the Rev. Percy Thomas of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in Weston cemetery, Rensselaer.
Friends may call at the LePell funeral home from 2 p. m. Wednesday to time of services Thursday.
