Great grandson of David Hopkins, son of James Hopkins & Jean Thompson. David was born 1713 County Antrim, Ireland and sailed to America with his parents when only 7 years old. He married Sarah Polk b1720 Ireland. They were married 1734 at Newport, RI and lived for a time in Voluntown, CT where some of their children were born. David died in 1783 at Salem, NY and Sarah in 1804 Salem, NY.
