Mrs. Shand was born in Columbia, S. C. a daughter of the late Albert Rhett and Rosa Cantey Heyward.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Julian (Mary) Rule of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Philip (Rosa) Turner of Kampala-Uganda, East Africa; and two sisters, Mrs. B. Boykin Clarke and Mrs. George T. McCutchen of Columbia.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbia, conducted by the Rev. E. B. Harris. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, in Columbia is in charge.
