Lynn H. Childers, 68, of Whittier's Wilmot community, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in Mission-St. Joseph's Health System after an extended illness.

A native of Jackson County, where he lived most of his life, he was the son of the late Van and Ernie Stewart Childers.

He retired from General Motors and the N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance department.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Duane, Morton and Frank Childers; and one sister, Thelma Bryson.

Wife: Nora Hannah Childers;

One daughter, Angela "Angie" Nations of Whittier;

Two sons: Lynden Keith Childers of Sylva and Lyle Anthony Childers of Whittier;

Two sisters: Alta Bryson and Irene Moses, both of Candler;

Three brothers, Crayton Childers of Waynesville, Clell Childers of Arden and Charlie Childers of Cullowhee;

seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
