COOKEVILLE – Funeral services for Robert M. "Sonny" Guess Sr., 75, of Cookeville will be held in the chapel of Whitson Funeal Home Wednesday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Cookeville City Cemetery.
Mr. Guess died at Parkview Hospital in Nashville on Saturday, June 1.
Mr. Guess was born in Olar, South Carolina, on September 29, 1915. He was the son of the late Frank M. and Maida Lee Still Guess.
He was a retired assistant superintendent with the Corp. of Engineers at Center Hill dam. Mr. Guess was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cookeville, past Master of the Cookeville Masonic Lodge 266 and past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star Chapter.
His family includes a son, Robert M. Guess Jr of Mt. Juliet; a daughter, Frankie Holloway of Hermitage; a
brother, Jeriel T. Guess Sr. of Summerville, SC; two sisters, Lou Weida G. Alleman and Abbie G. Bogard, both of Gilbert, SC, and five grandchildren.
Mr. Guess was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Hutson Guest.
