VARNA: Floyd C. Austin, 85, of Varna died at 6:35 p.m. Friday evening at the Monte Cassino Manor, Toluca, IL.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Varna First Lutheran Church. Dr. James E. Walker will officiate.

Burial will be in the Varna First Lutheran Cemetery No. 2.

Visitation is one hour before the services Monday at the church.

The Robert Pries Funeral Home, Lacon, is in charge of arrangements.

Born September 13, 1899, in Varna, he was the son of John and Mary (Lundgren) Austin. He married Pearl Peterson on March 15, 1921, in Varna. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Martin Austin and Living Austin of Varna, two brothers, Maynard "Bill" Austin of Varna and Melvin Austin of California; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth (Edward) Benson of Varna and Florence Munson of Chicago, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, one son, one daughter, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.

Mr. Austin farmed in the Varna area all of his life, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Varna First Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or to the Varna Ambulance.
