Anna Albaugh Quarles, 73, of Grand Saline passed away Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, in Grand Saline. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Thursday in Creagleville Cemetery with Brother D'Wayne Williams officiating. Bartley Funeral Home of Grand Saline is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Quarles was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Winchester, Va., to John R. and Effie Mae DeHaven Albaugh. Mrs. Quarles spent her early years in Virginia, then time in Fort Worth and Huntsville, Ala., before moving to Grand Saline in 1994. She worked as the secretary for the deputy of security at the Pentagon during the Army McCarthy hearings. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Richard Albaugh; and two daughters, Karen Elizabeth Quarles and Shawn Tanson Quarles. Survivors: Husband of 53 years, Herschel Quarles of Grand Saline; sons, Robert Herschel Quarles of Pflugerville and Richard Andrew Quarles of Crowley; daughter, Laura Lindsey of Crowley; sister, Marie Ruddle of Severn, Md.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
