Frederick White was the oldest of the five children of Charles F.and Guly Alma(Corey)White of Providence Rhode Island.Married first to Abbie Mariah Moses(1849-1907) in Wickford RI on Sept 5 1866.Their two children were Inez b.1867 and Rebbeca b.1869.He enlisted on October 11 1864 in Providence Rhode Island for the Second Rhode Island Infantry Company D.He fought with this company at the 1865 battles of Petersburg, Saylers Creek and Appomattox Court House.The regiment mustered out on July 13 1865 at Halls Hill, Virginia.He married second wife, Catherine Quinn in 1871.They were the parents of Charlotte,Clarence,Frederick(my grandfather),Charles,Horace and Blanch.He earned his living as a boot and shoe maker and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, Winchester Post #197, located at 972 Fulton St.in Brooklyn.At a meeting held Dec 4,1890 he was elected junior vice-commander.He had previously been Quartermaster and Sgt.Major.Frederick White died at his home,522 4th Avenue,on Christmas day 1895.Rest in peace, my great grandfather.
