John Paul, a Civil War Veteran who for twenty years was employed in the Bethlehem Steel Works, died yesterday 10:30pm in his late home, 325 Vine Street. Born in Cornwall, England, September 19, 1845, a son of the late John and Susan J. Cook Paul, he was 71 years, 1 month, and 6 days old. For two decades, he was employed in the Bethlehem Steel Works. He was ill six years. He was in the marine service during the Civil War. He enlisted February 24, 1863, and was discharged June 29, 1866. Besides his widow, Elizabeth, he leaves three daughters and four sons: Irene, Mabel and Clara, at home; William H. and Walter of this city, Arthur and Stanley, at home; six grandchildren; three brothers, Francis, Easton,; Nicholas, Baltimore; and William, California. Two children preceded him in death. The funeral will take place Saturday 2p.m. Service in the house. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. He was past commander of Robert Oldham Post 527 G. A. John Paul and Mary E. Rowe were married January 14, 1880 by Rev. Isaac Loos; at the time they were both residents of Friedensville.
Mary Paul was survived by 4 sons; 3 daughters; and one sister, Emma. She was the daughter of William and Catharine nee Ackford Rowe. A brother William is believed to have preceded her. by Marie Zimmerman
