Reynolds' Rites Are Held At Alfalfa

Funeral services were held at the Alfalfa highschool auditorium Friday afternoon for L. " Bud" Reynolds, early day settler of the Alfalfa community. He died suddenly and unexpectedly Tuesday, June 25, shortly after retiring. He had worked in his fields all day and had not been ill or complained of feeling bad. Rev. J.W. Goss of Weatherford conducted the final service and burial was made in the Alfalfa cemetery.
Mr. Reynolds was born March 26, 1886 and was a pioneer settler in the Alfalfa community. He was married to Miss Nellie Barnes and to them four children were born. A daughter, Elsie, died at the age of five. The widow and two sons, Elwood and J.H., and a daughter, Mrs. Lela Kendrick and a granddaughter Donna Jean Kendrick of Hines, Calif. of the immediate family survive. He also has three sisters, Mrs. Frank Fink, Altus; Mrs. R.R. Redus, San Antonio, Texas; and Mrs. J.W. Bulkley, Kansas City, Mo., and four brothers, L.P. Reynolds and F.M. Reynolds of this place, Elzie Reynolds of Cyril; and Joe Reynolds of Gotebo, besides many other near relatives.
Mrs. Bulkley was unable to attend the funeral of her brother but others that came from distant homes were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fink, Altus; Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Rebus, San Antonio; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reynolds and son of Gotebo; Mrs. Vera Nelson, Fort Sill; Mr. and Mrs. Ezie Reynolds, Cyril; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hudgins and two children, Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Hunter and three children and Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Reynolds all of Altus; Mr. and Mrs. Olin Lovel and their sister, Mrs. Viola Howell of Stafford; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Meyers and son of Okemah; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Payne of Weatherford; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Payne of Hydro.
Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Alfalfa Baptist church. The large concourse of friends who assembled at the funeral service attested to the respect he had gained in his long residence in this community.
