Pvt. Hyatt died in the torpedoing & sinking of the troopship "Tuscania" on 5 February 1918 in the North Channel between Scotland & Ireland by German submarine UB-77. He was first buried at Kinnabus, isle of Islay, Scotland, in grave 20. His body was returned to the U.S. aboard "Antigone" in September 1920.
