June Geremyne King Griffin, 85, began her next life Saturday, August 7, 2010, at Parkway Health & Rehabilitation Center. June born to Lois Campbell King and James G. King Sr., graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Fisk University, where she was member of the Fisk Jubilee Singers and received her Master's Degree from Georgetown University. Her teaching career spanned decades with the Memphis City Schools and the District of Columbia. June is survived by children, Lois Jean Griffin and Leon H. Griffin, Jr.; brother, James G. King Jr.; predeceased nephew, James G. King, III; nieces, Francita Guy, Diane Franklin, and Deborah Helms. grandnieces and nephews, Alana, Kim, Adam and Robert Guy, Gilbert Franklin Jr., Joey and Jay King. Her life of instructing and guiding children never ended as thousands of productive and loving adults, her former "babies" will attest. Her love and trust in God and the faithful members of the Holmes Road Church of Christ make this a joyous parting for a moment. Visitation will be held Friday, August 20 at Holmes Road Church of Christ, 1187 East Holmes, 5-8 p.m. Graveside services in Elmwood Cemetery, Saturday, August 21, 2 p.m. The family requests memorials be sent to the charity of your choice.
