He was born September 28, 1894 in Springfield, Mass., the son of Fred Case and Emily (Chapin) Wright, and was a direct descendant of Deacon Samuel Chapin, a founder of that city.
Mr. Wright moved to Brattleboro, Vermont, in 1912 and farmed until 1917.
Entering the U.S. Army in World War I he served as Master Sergeant with the 304th Motor Transport Company at General Pershing's Headquarters in Chaumont, France.
He was a charter member and past Commander of American Legion Post No. 5, in Brattleboro, Vermont.
Following World War I Mr. Wright's early business life was associated with the automobile business as a partner of Wright Brothers. He served the Town of Brattleboro as a lister for a number of years. Prior to his retirement he was owner/operator of Wright's Grill in Brattleboro.
In 1967 Mr. Wright moved to Stuart. He was active in Boy Scouts and was employed for some time at the Environmental Studies Center, Jensen Beach.
He was predeceased by his first wife, the former May Saderman; a son, Edward C. Wright; a daughter, Mary Irene Wright; and a brother E. Sherman Wright.
He is survived by his wife Cecilia S. Wright of Stuart, a son Christopher Wright of Stuart, four daughters Janice Bodor of South Charleston, W.Va., Cynthia E. Fairchild of Brattleboro, Suzanne Stanton of Boylston, Mass. and Kathleen C. Walker of Stuart, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 25, at Wallace & White Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arthur A. Smith, Record of St. Mary's Episcopal Church officiating. There will be no visiting hours. Committal services will be held in Brattleboro, Vermont under the direction of Ker, Westerlund & Fleming Funeral Home.
