Jacques was a well-known portrait artist in Europe, studying with some of the most famous artists in Madrid. His reputation preceded him when he and his family came through Ellis Island in 1920 to settle in the United States, where he continued his painting until his death in 1931. He is listed in "Who Was Who in American Art. 400 years of artists in America." Second edition. Three volumes. Edited by Peter Hastings Falk. Madison, CT: Sound View Press, 1999.
