In 1952 he met his future wife, Katie Mae Burgess in Arkansas and they married on 2 Sep 1952. Three children were born to this union. His son, Edward Allen Baird, Jr died on 27 Dec 1962 and was buried at Marcelina Cemetery in Wilson County, Texas.
Ed moved his family to Houston, Texas in 1960 and remained in Houston until his death. Ed was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 1985 and fought valiantly until his death.
