Marvin (Powers) Blood (a veteran of the War of 1812) and Martha Patty Cabot were married in 1815 and their first child was born in Vermont. They then relocated to Rushford, Allegany County, New York where eight more children were born:

John Merrill B. – b. 1820
Addison Cabot B. – b. 1822
Martha L. B. – b. 1824
Alexander B. – b. 1827
Sylvester Henry B. – b. 1829
Susan B. – b. 1831
Mary Jane B. – b. 1833
Lucy Helen B. – b. 1835
The family moved to Illinois in 1837. The mother, Martha, died in 1846 and was buried in Bennington, Edwards County, IL. Marvin then married a woman named Susie (maiden name unknown) and she bore him the twin girls, Annette and Jeanette and Sarah B. Marvin (Powers) Blood then died in 1859 and is buried in Bennington, Edwards County, IL.

Illinois, Wills and Probate Records, 1772-1999 for Marvin P Blood was filed by his widow, Susan (Pritchett) Blood, on November 26, 1857. The 1859 date appears on a military headstone application submitted in 1936. More current information establishes that date of 1859 is in error.
