"The LaFayette Sun" - May 20, 1896:
A Sad Death.
On last Monday, at 12 o'clock, after an illness of a few days, the spirit of Maude, the little two-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Crowder, who live near town, took its flight to heaven. Her remains were interred in Rock Spring Cemetery on Tuesday, the ceremony being conducted by Elder J. T. Satterwhite.
Thus another tender bud has been plucked from earth to be transplanted in the garden where it will blossom and live forever.
The community join in extending heartfelt sympathy to the sorely bereaved family. May they strive to meet her in that blessed home of eternal joy, where sickness and death are unknown.
