He was the son of Neil R. and Anna Loper French.Daddy graduated from Bethel College in Mackenzie, Tennessee. He majored in finance. After he was hurt playing football at Ole Miss, his scholarship, along with that of his sister Anna Bernice, were vacated by the University of Mississippi. They were both given scholarships if he would catch baseball for the Bethel team. After college, he played for the Memphis Chicks in the Minor Leagues before returning to Huntsville. He liked to brag that he arrived in Mackenzie on two crutches with two scholarships. I believe Auntee majored in piano, but I am not sure.
Told by R.B.French Jr.
He worked in banking, then for S.R.Railroad where he retired.
