Born Barbara LaFave July 14, 1943 in Alpena to Albert LaFave and Betty (McCoombs) LaFave. Barb lived in Alpena most of her life except for twelve years in Lake Worth, Florida. On March 5th 1971 she married Jay Martinson.
Barb enjoyed annual camping trips and loved to travel. Over the years she took several Caribbean cruises and visited numerous states including Alaska. Barb was talented at crocheting, needlework, quilting, sewing and candy making. She eagerly anticipated each year's canning season. She was an avid card player. Barb adored her grandchildren.
She was survived by her devoted husband Jay Martinson; two daughters, Melissa (Joe) Flynn, Joann (Frankie Lee) Martinson; one son Doug; three stepsons Joe (Bess), Dan (Deborah) and Tom (Sandi). Three sisters, Sandra (Chuck Werda) Marek, Cheryl (Larry) Cousineau, and Paula Snider. Eighteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild. An aunt (Eva Ross), several nieces, nephews and her very special friends Cathy and Michael Murphy. Also by her beloved puppies, Sissy and Little One.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dale LaFave and a nephew, Tony Werda Cousins.
