Charles Frederick Botzong was born in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana (in what may now be Webster Parish)to George Frederick Botzong and Fredrica Rebecca. He married Emmaline Miller on December 3, 1854 in Claiborne Parish. They were ennumerated in the 1860 US Federal census living with his parents and two children: Rosa Fredrica Botzong Miller (1858-1924) and Charles Francis Botzong (1860-1927). Emmaline gave birth on 12 Feb 1863 to their son George Frederick Botzong (1863-1950), two months after his father's death.
