Enoch Baity was born in NC to David Isom Baity and Sarah Hendricks Baity on Feb 2, 1803. He was the twin brother to George Washington Baity, who died in Hancock Co., Indiana on Jul 3, 1872. He married Nancy Shore(s) daughter of Jacob & Margaret (Scantlin) Shore(s) who was born 1809 in NC. After Jacob Shore(s) died Margaret and family travelled west including son-in-law Enoch. Enoch & Nancy first settled in Morgan, Illinois where four of their seven children were born. They moved on to Macon County Missouri about 1838 where they finally settled. Enoch purchased 80 acres of land to farm in the Richland Township, Macon Co., Mo, from George Gates. Enoch's parents and all his siblings except George, remained in and around Surry Co., North Carolina. Enoch and Nancy, Nancy's mother,& three brothers were all early settlers of the community. Enoch died in 1856 leaving his wife and four living children. Enoch's two sons William and George both fought for the Union Army during the Civil War.
