Opal Irene Snow was born to William Crawford and Cassie Donague Snow, January 15, 1921 at Turkey, Texas. Her father died as a result of an accident when Opal was very small and her widowed mother moved the family to Amarillo, Texas. She passed away January 2, 1994.
Opal married Woodrowe Barber, August 25, 1943 in the chapel on Amarillo Air Force Base. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary this past August.
At the end of World War II, they moved here to farm and ranch. Except for five years ranching at DeBeque on the Western Slope of Colorado, they have lived in Roger Mills and Ellis County, Oklahoma. She was baptized in the Arnett Baptist Church in 1955 and was a long time member of the Magnolia Baptist Church at Crawford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 4 sisters.
They were members of a Travel Trailer club and spent the last 12 years enjoying their retirement, traveling with the club and going to visit the club and going to visit family and other activities.
Opal came from a big family and dearly loved her own big family. She had a way of making each of her seven kids think they were special to her. She was happiest when the house was bursting at the seams with children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She loved them all and would willingly sacrifice her own needs to help one of her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband Woodrowe Charles of the home; four daughters, Beverly Ann Turley of Belen, NM; Terry Lynn Fults, Cheyenne, OK; Mary Lou and Roger Habekott, Arnett, OK; Dana Renee and Greg Golden, Albuquerque, NM, three sons, Tom and Lenore Barber, Crawford, OK; Jim and Karen Barber, Crawford, OK; and Blaine and Kris Barber, Petoskey, MI; one sister, Adaline Greathouse, Roswell, NM; two brothers, Marvin Snow, Amarillo, TX and Charles Snow of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren, Bronson and Jan Turley, Nick and wife Holy, W.C. and Lacey Habekott, Stacey and husband Arron Habekott White, Kenya and Trent Barber, Taylor Jones, Zach, Carrie Dawn, Melanie and Ti Barber, Micah, Jeremy and Sarita Barber, Christina, Mitchel and Cassie Fults, Megan Golden and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Services were Wednesday, January 5, 1994 in the Crawford School Gymnasium at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Pie Flat Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
