Gloom was cast over our town when the news of the death of Mr. Harry H. Goodwill at Ruston was received here on Tuesday and the tenderest and most loving sympathy is offered to the bereaved family in this hour of sorrow. Harry Goodwill was born and reared in Minden and by his lovable and genial manner had endeared himself to everyone; always courteous and companionable it was a pleasure and delight to meet him and the memory of his gracious and gentle qualities will long remain with those who were privileged to know him. For the past ten years he had made his home in Ruston and was closely identified with every public interest in the town and had innumerable friends there who were shocked and grieved at his untimely passing away. The remains accompanied by numbers of warm friends were brought back to his boyhood home for burial. Rev. Delaney of the First Presbyterian church of Ruston came to perform the last sad rites and speak the words of comfort for the heart broken ones who are robbed of the presence of a devoted husband and father, loving son and brother. The floral tributes were numerous and of exceptional beauty and covered the sacred bier. His intimate friends from Ruston, Messrs. Perkins, Shallenberger, Homer and Howard Warren, McGinty and Thurmond, acted as pall bearers and as the evenings sun cast its soft shadows he was laid to rest, friends mingling their tears with the grief stricken ones and commending them to the Heavenly Father who can alone heal such great wounds.
