He married Ressie Smith of Indianapolis in 1893. He served as Vice President of an oil company for a number of years before moving to Charleston, West Virginia at the opening of the 20th century.
Later he was an insurance agent, and retired from the West Virginia Water Company.
After the death of his wife, he spent most of his sunset years in the home of his only daughter's family.
He was survived by his daughter, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
