Mary was born October 9, 1924 in Ellerbe, NC, daughter of the late Giles G. Bowman and Rosalie Newman Bowman. Her husbands, Otis Medlin, Sr. and L.R. Ray, a daughter, Mary Louise Medlin, and three brothers, preceded her in death.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening and fishing.
She is survived by seven children, Carol Rogers of Sun City, CA, Betty Bolding, Otis Medlin, Jr. and wife, Sharon, Stanley Medlin and Wife, Catherine, Jo Ann Medlin, Jane Gay and husband, David, and Richard Medlin all of Wilmington, NC; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Linda Griggs of Greensboro, NC and Elizabeth Edwards of Hampstead, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Andrews Valley Chapel.
A funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday, August 16, 2010, at Andrews Valley Chapel with Rev. Keith Holler officiating. Interment will follow in Wilmington National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center for their loving care and support.
