Son of Noah Peck and Emma Luther. According to U.S. Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, found on Ancestry.com, Edwin L. Peck, a teacher, residing in Nayatt, Rhode Island, enlisted at the age of 22 on September 18, 1861 as a Private, serving the State of Massachusetts. According to records, he was a Prisoner of War, and he did survive the war. He enlisted in Company F, Massachusetts 27th Infantry Regiment on September 20, 1861. He was promoted to Full First Lieutenant on June 28, 1864. He was promoted to Full Second Lieutenant on June 4, 1864 and promoted to Full Captain on May 15, 1865. He was mustered out on June 26, 1865 at New Berne, North Carolina. He was born about 1839 and died on March 14, 1898.
