REV. ELMER A. KATTERJOHN, 83
GREENVILLE - The Rev. Elmer A. Katterjohn, 83, of East Cass Street, Greenville, died Saturday, March 17, 1990, at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, Calif.
Former pastor of Greenville First Baptist Church, he was born Nov. 20, 1906, in Denver, Col., the son of August H. and Emma L. Graichan Katterjohn.
He was a Baptist minister of ABC churches for 56 years, serving eight churches as regular pastor and seven as interim. He retired in 1971 and returned to Greenville' to make his home.
On Dec. 22, 1928, in Englewood, Colo., he married the former Amy Heifner, who survives.
He also is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Gary Higgins, Alma; two sons and their wives, Bob and Betty Katterjohn, Grand Blanc, Carl and Bonnie Katterjohn, Greenville; a sister, Ruth A, Caraway, Riverside, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Art Katterjohn.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenville First Baptist Church, the Rev. Maurice Hom officiating.
Interment is in Forest Home Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Teman Funeral Home, Greenville, Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Bible Society.
