Clinton Daily Democrat, Apr 11 2001 - Ethel Mary (Bomher Strickland) Nolan, daughter of Frank and Ethel (Thury) Bomher, was born April 16, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated to Heaven on March 22, 2001, at the Clinton Residential Care Center, Clinton, at the age of 77 years.

Ethel was married to Richard Strickland in 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was then married to Edward Nolan (her high school sweetheart) on April 16, 1999. Ethel's education included graduating from Lindblom High School, Chicago, Illinois, on June 25, 1941, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from DePaul University on June 9, 1965, and a Master of Science Degree from Saint Xavier College, her grade point average earning her a scholarship from the American Nurses Honor Society in Nursing. She volunteered in Chicago by donating three months each summer for three years to the Illinois Department of Mental Health, with an interest in learning how nursing could be helpful in drug rehabilitation, at the request of her Bachelor's Nursing students. Her contributions to the community included working with Hospice for four years and providing independent foot care services.

Ethel is survived by her husband, Edward Nolan of the home; one brother, George Bomher, Clinton, and a niece, Jacquie DiMisa of Gathersburg, Maryland.
