Among announcements of the week causing keen regret in Washington music circles is that of the death of Mrs. Florence Shaler, widow of General Charles Shaler, United states Army. Mrs. Shaler died Wednesday at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore and was buried Friday at Arlington. She is well remembered by musicians of a decade ago as Florence Stidham, having been a prominent contralto in church and local concert fields and holding the position of soloist at Epiphany and other churches. She was also a member of the Philharmonic quartet, the other members being Anna Craig Hills, now Mrs. Elmer Curry, Secretary of the Rubenstein Club; Grace McCullough and Eleanor Simonds.
