In 1942, she moved with her family to Great Bend, Kansas where she attended Washington Elementary School. In 1949, they moved to Hastings where she attended Hastings Public Schools. On October 7, 1952, she married Dale Kiiker. They lived in Hastings until 1969, and then moved to the Trumbull area. Dale preceded her in death on August 17, 2004, and Shirley moved back to Hastings in 2005. She spent the early years of their marriage raising her children and volunteering for Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, and PTA.
She worked for Mode O'Day, Good Samaritan Village, EBKO Industries, and Comfort Inn. She also worked as a respite care giver. She was a member of New York Avenue Congregational Church and Eagles Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Masonic Temple with the Ladies Shrine Auxiliary by sewing items for children. Her hobbies included any type of needlework, reading, and crossword puzzles.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Kiiker; and brother, Donald Adams.
