A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano for Provis T. Esponge, 88, a native of Golden Meadow
and resident of Galliano, who died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10.
Interment was in the Hebert Cemetery in Galliano.
He was the husband of Julia Guidry Esponge; father of Levinia Gisclair and Gerline Vizier; brother of Polycarp Esponge Jr. and Celema Guidry. He is also survived by six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Polycarp and Eugenie Callais Esponge; two brothers, Gustave and Raoul Esponge; two sisters, Devin Esponge and Violette
Terrebonne; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano was in charge of the arrangements.
