Dr. Richard Watson Griffin, the son of Franklin Hall Griffin and Lee Joiney Babb Griffin was born in District #4 near Bluebank, November 20, 1871 and died July 23, 1953, in Memphis, TN. He is buried in Tiptonville City Cemetery. He was the oldest child of his fathers second marriage and one of 14 children. Dr. Griffin married first, Margaret Ida Finch of the Glass community in Obion County. February 11, 1896. She was the daughter of Thomas Abraham and Texada (Roach) Finch and was born September 25, 1875 in Williamsport, TN, and died February 13, 1946 in Tiptonville. He married second, Mary Belle Tipton, the widow of Fred Joseph Caldwell. Margaret attended W.R. Moore Academy in Glass and taught school for several years in the Obion County School System. Her brother, J.J. Finch was a prominent citizen of Lake County also. She and Dr. Griffin had 10 children.
Dr. Griffin was honored by Lake County citizens in the late 40's for delivering most of the children living in the county at the time. He was loved by all who knew him and everyone was proud to wear a ribbon stating "I am a Dr. Griffin baby" in the parade to honor him.
