"Benjamin Alexander, 76, died at his home, 619 Holley street, Biloxi, at 4:50 p.m. yesterday. He was a native of Louisiana, and for the past 45 years, a resident of Biloxi. He was a shelf cook at the old soldiers' home for 35 years and is well known by both white and colored in this section. The funeral will be Sunday, July 8th from the Colored First Baptist church at 1 p.m. The remains will be in (the) charge of the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 2438 of Biloxi, Rev. J. G. McQueen officiating."
