Gerald J. Norcross "Jerry" "G.J" Age 85. Passed away Saturday August 7, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born May 11, 1925 in Springfield, IL, and a longtime Joliet area resident. A 1943 graduate of Joliet Catholic High School. Retired in 1988 from Reynolds Metals Co., McCook, IL as a millwright following 42 years of service. Member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Cantigny Post #367, American Legion Post #1080, Joliet Loyal Order of Moose #300 and Joliet Elks Lodge #296. A United States Navy veteran of World War II, Gerald was the recipient of the Victory medal, American Area Campaign medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign medal with one star. Gerald enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping trips to Alaska, and time spent at the cottage in Eagle River, WI. and winters in Florida He especially liked to attend his Navy reunions. Surviving are his wife, Leona Norcross; three daughters, Terri (Joey) Lynch of Athens, WI, Brenda Norcross of Fairbanks, AK, and Laurie (Lawrence) Allen of Coal City, IL; six grandchildren, Scott (Claudia) Paquet of Lake Marian, IL, Julie (James) Espy of Austin, TX, Brad (Erica), Ryan (Laura), Nathan and Kate Allen all of Coal City; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah Flint, Peyton Allen and Elliana Allen; one sister, Celene (David B.) Easson of Davenport, IA; a sister-in-law Margaret (late Edward) Norcross; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded by his parents, Gerald R. and Clara (nee Reilly) Norcross; one brother, Edward Norcross; and one sister, Clara Marie (Edward J.) Mahoney. Funeral Services for Gerald J. Norcross will be Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
