Dorothy was born on May 31, 1918 in Aurora, Illinois to Aurther and Helen (Seeck) Schoeberlein. She graduated from East High School in Aurora with the Class of 1936. She married Orville Zilly on September 2, 1939 in Manchester, Iowa. Dorothy was the Editor and Co-Publisher, with her husband, of the Elizabeth Weekly News from 1951-1983. She also worked at the Elizabeth Library and was on the Library Board. Dorothy was a charter member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. She was a member of the Dorcas Circle, Golden Agers and the Lutheran Women Missionary Society at Faith Lutheran, the Elizabeth Historical Society, Young at Heart, and the Elizabeth Nursing Home Auxiliary. Dorothy was an avid cookbook collector and enjoyed ceramics and drawing. Survivors include one son, Craig (Mary) Zilly of Canton, Illinois; and one granddaughter, Tina (Jeremy) Carby of Bloomington, Illinois. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Orville on February 4, 1985. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2001 at Faith Lutheran Church, Elizabeth with Reverend Kenneth Arndt of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetary, Montgomery, Illinois. Friends may call from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at Faith Lutheran Church, Elizabeth. Memorials may be made in Dorothy's name to the Radio Ministry fund at Faith Lutheran Church.
