Mrs. Helen Bates, age 53 years, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, died in a hospital in Minneapolis on Thursday, Oct. 3.

She was born in Bartlesville, OK, on June 29, 1910. At the age of four years she moved with her parents to Chicago, IL, where she resided until 1931. She was married to Walter A. Arnhold in Waukegan, IL, on July 1, 1930. In 1931 the couple came to Winter to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death ion March 15, 1953.

On Sept. 13, 1958, she was married to Joseph A. Bates in Ashland, WI. The couple made their home in Minneapolis. She was employed as credit manager for Buttrey's Ladies Wearing Apparel Shops in Minneapolis for six and a half years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winter.

Survivors are her husband, Joseph E. Bates of Minneapolis; one son, Harry Arnhold of Bloomington, MN; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Holzem of Evansville; one sister, Mrs. Lucille Christensen of Ojibwa; one brother, John Janeski, of Winger, MN, and five grandchildren.
