Interment was made in the Shrontz cemetery.
Mrs. Page’s death following a lingering illness of six years due to a complication of diseases and during which period she was a very patient sufferer, although she was always bright and cheerful to those who were near her. She was a faithful follower of the teachings of the Baptist church with which denomination she united in 1921 at Villa Grove and her greatest pleasure was in attending the services as long as her health permitted. Her constant prayer was, “Father, if it be Thy wish, take this cup from me, Thine will, not mine, be done.”
She was a devoted and faithful wife and mother, a splendid neighbor and friend in need and will be sadly missed in the home as well as in the community where she has resided for many years.
Emma Johnson Page was born May 7, 1884 near Lake Village, Ind., and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Johnson of this place, who preceded her in death on January 1928 and 1929 respectively. Her girlhood days were spent in this vicinity and she was united in marriage to Fred Page on Nov. 24, 1909 and they resided here for several years, moving to Villa Grove about twelve years ago. To this union were born four children, Henry, Grace, Agnes and Mabel Ann at home. By a former marriage she leaves three daughters, Mrs. Edna Ferney, a foreign missionary of Cuba; Mrs. Leona Prairie of this city and Mrs. Esther Ferney of Berrien Center, Michigan.
Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her loss three brothers, Thos. Johnson of Logansports, Ind., William and Nelse Johnson of South Bend, Ind., three sisters, Mrs. John Jensen of this place, Mrs. Albert Frank of Chicago Heights, Mrs. Arthur Combs of Prescott, Mich; eight grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
The pall bearers were selected from the ranks of C & E I fireman as follows: Fred James, A.W. Melby, Steve Hanawalt, Leonard Barnes, Clint Cowan of Villa Grove and Roy Bishir of Momence.
The flower girls were Mesdamea Robison, Cowan, McBeth, Paul, Kendall and Hodge of Villa Grove.
