Janice Marie Young was the 5th child born to Woodrow F. "Mutt" Young (FAG Memorial No. 17329146)and Christina Helen Bennett Young (FAG Memorial No. 17222559), on October 27, 1958, in Houston, Harris County, Texas. Janice was raised in the neighborhood of Port Houston and she was certainly a "survivor" - a tough little gal who loved to climb trees, and play with her best girl friends, Arlene & Darlene Lafayette, and fight with her brothers, Leo Edward Young (FAG Memorial 17406190), William F. (Bill) Young and big brother, Robert Louis Young and big sister, Valerie (Cougar Baby) Young Kelton.
Janice's Dad called her "Peaches" because he said he was so glad she wasn't a "pair" (Leo and Bill were twins) - Janice was the "apple" of Daddy's eye and she could get by with almost anything.
Janice attended elementary school at Port Houston Elementary and later went to the 8th grade at McReynolds Jr. High, but struggled to focus in school and dropped out of school after the 9th grade (Janice was probably AD/HD, but never diagnosed). In 1975, her father died, which was very hard on Janice, when she needed her Dad the most.
When Janice turned 17 yrs. old, she gave birth to her only son, Jason Michael Young born May 6, 1977 (later adopted "Kelton"). Jason's father was William Bowman, who passed away later on in the summer of 1977 from a fatal one-car accident off I-10 and McCarty Drive - this was another very hard time for Janice.
In 1983, Janice was severely injured in a one-car roll over, which totally changed her life and she remained some-what handicapped everafter, not being able to support herself nor her son, Jason, for many years. Soon, Janice's sister, Valerie Young Kelton and husband, Shane Myrle Kelton, adopted Jason and his name was changed to: Jason Michael Kelton.
Over the years, Janice managed to live & accept her injuries, focusing more on her abilities than her short-comings. Janice became a homemaker and loved to cook and do crafts. Janice was never happier and prouder than when she became a Grandmother. Jason's daughter, Breanna Michelle Kelton, was born on September 18, 2000 in Abilene, Texas, to Jason M. Kelton and wife, Kathryn Louise Glassman Kelton.
Janice's health began to decline in 2007 and on July 1, 2010, Janice moved to Brownwood, TX, to be closer to her sister, Valerie and son, Jason. She died of cardiac arrest on July 20, 2010 and was buried in the May Cemetery near the home of Valerie & Shane Kelton on July 22, 2010.
