From Gettysburg Times, December 6, 1937:

Edward James Adams, 70, died Saturday evening at 6 o'clock at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Kump, near Emmitsburg, from a complication of diseases.

He was the son of the late John and Annie (Topper) Adams and was twice married, both of his wives having preceded him in death. His first wife was the former Louise Orndorff and his second the former Emma Wolford. The deceased was a member of the Holy Name society and St. Joseph's Catholic church, Emmitsburg.

Surviving are the following children, all of the first union: Mrs. Charles Baltzell, Union Bridge, Maryland; Mrs. Romanus Florence, Mrs. Herbert White, Mrs. Emanuel Kump, Mrs. Samuel Brewer, Maurice Adams, all of Emmitsburg; Mrs. Bernard Sprankle, Earl Adams and Francis Adams, Liberty township; three brothers: John, New York; Joseph, Michigan; Felix, Emmitsburg; one sister: Mrs. James Baker, Emmitsburg; 28 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
