Leslie served as a Staff Sergeant & Crew Chief on A-20G "Little Doc" #43-9413, 388th Bomber Squadron, 312th Bomber Group, Light, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Middlesex County, Massachusetts prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 6, 1942 in Lowell, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in maintenance and also as Single, without dependents.

He was married sometime after his enlistment.

A-20G #43-9413 took off, with a crew of 3 & other A-20's, from Biak Island, Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province, Indonesia on a ferrying mission to Sansapor, West Papua Province, Indonesia.

The pilot, 2nd Lt. Tinkham, radioed that he was having engine trouble. Other's witnessed his left engine cutting out and they reported that they ended up crashing into the sea.

Leslie was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.
