Died at sea when his ship, the USS Blue, was torpedoed and sunk north of Lunga Point, Guadalcanal. He enlisted in the navy a few days after the attack at Pearl Harbor. Prior to enlistment, he worked for Hislop's Little Chapel of the Hills, the State Theatre, and the Union Oil Company in Auburn.
