Bobby served as a Staff Sergeant on B-24M #44-41876, 530th Bomber Squadron, 380th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Lamb County, Texas prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 14, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24M #44-41876 was experiencing engine trouble and the Pilot gave the word to prepare to "bail-out". Bobby misinterpreted the command and bailed out. The B-24 actually made it safely back to base with the rest of the crew.

Bobby was declared "Missing In Action" on this flight during the war.
