Robert was the son of Thomas Wedgewood and Virginia Hidalgo. He volunteered for the 1st New Mexico National Guards on June 17, 1917. He was sent to Camp Kearney, California and placed into the 144th Machine Gun Battalion. In France he was in Company C 47th Infantry 4th Division. He was killed in action on July 31, 1918
