William Miller was the first bishop of Hunter Ward, Salt Lake County, Utah. He was born aug 21, 1837 at New Lisbon Columbia county , Ohio , the son of George Miller and Martha Jane Gourley. He migrated to Utah in 1861, crossing the plains in David H. Camnon's Company and drove a a four team yoke of Oxen team from Omaha to Salt Lake City. he located on the present site of Morgan City, Weber, Utah. The settlement at that time consisted of a few log cabins. He assisted in building the first saw and flour mills in the Weber Valley. In Zune 1865 he was baptized by Nelson Arava and confirmed by Bishop Abia Wadsworth. He meet his bride Lucinda Wadsworth when she was 10 years old and waited until she was just shy of 15 to get married. They had nine children (4 sons and 5 daughter 's). In 1914 they had 26 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. . He fulfilled a short time mission to the Northern States 1869-70. After wards he settled in Hooper Utah. In the fall 1881 when he moved to Pleasant Green , Salt Lake County where he followed farming and also taught school in the Hunter district several terms. He was ordained. Bishop by Apostle John W. Taylor. He was bishop for 11 years, his home being across the street in the Plesant Green Ward . In 1902 he moved to Alberta Canada. While residing in Canada he engaged in farming and stock with his sons.
